Extinction rates are rising year after year and many zoo-goers don’t realize these captive animals could end up being the last of their species. We wanted to create a program that gave a physical representation of animal extinction and to do so, we created a series of tickets that were priced through an algorithm that took into account how long each animal has been on the endangered and critically endangered lists. The entire project was done pro bono and with a team of less than five people, tiny teams for the win :)

THE PASSES
Working with many experts at the zoo, we aligned to five species who each have a different plight in the crisis that is animal extinction: climate change, over-fishing, hunting/poaching, deforestation, and invasive species. We wanted to create tickets that highlighted these problems by showing the animal in its endangered environment when closed and its naturally intended environment when opened.
ZOO SIGNAGE
We also created an abundance of signage throughout the zoo to further educate zoo goers and lead them to purchase a ticket.
